"When people ask whether local restaurants can be really good, we think immediately of Sonny's. Attractive but unpretentious design, using Charles Eames fabric for the banquette seating and olive leather for the bar chairs, with some very good art (Elisabeth Frink, Jim Dine) on the walls ' the food would be almost incidental were it not so good. White-crab tortellini with brown shrimps and caper beurre blanc and slow-cooked pork belly with cassoulet are two of their standout dishes. Historic wine list and informed, deft service, too."
