Introduction
The Idle Hour in Barnes is a multi-award winning, primarily organic gastropub hidden down an alley in the back streets of Barnes. Hosted by the inimitable Stephen Thorp - a 20 year veteran of restaurants around the world and something of a character - this small cozy pub offers fabulous home cooked dishes (including Alaskan King Crab and stunning burgers which are half price on Mondays)at remarkable value not to mention a spectacular drinks offering (organic wines, cocktails, an impressive array of spirits and a good selection of beers and ales). It has a beautiful, flower-filled garden for alfresco dining in the summer and a real fire for cozy dinners in the winter. The pub is stylishly designed with a variety of wrong-time-telling clocks everywhere, fresh flowers and very friendly staff. It has more the feel of somebody's home than it does a commercial operation which attracts an eclectic crowd who delight in the personalisation of this unique venue.
