Dr Adele Romanis
Clinical Psychologist
Adele completed her Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in 1999 majoring in Psychology and Communications thereafter enrolling for Honours Bachelor of Arts (BA Hons) in Psychology which was completed in 2001 at the University of South Africa. Adele was selected to complete a Master’s of Science (M.Sc) in Clinical Psychology at the Medical University of Southern Africa. This course included a one year internship at Ga-Rankwa Hospital (now Dr George Mukhari Hospital) as well as Weskoppies Psychiatric Hospital.
Adele worked in the United Kingdom for 2 years where she managed a domestic violence charity organisation which catered for the needs of women escaping violence at homes and offering them a new start in life. She returned to South Africa to complete her Community Service in 2006 and was based at Port Shepstone Hospital in Kwa-Zulu Natal. Adele has been registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA), Practice number: 02 488 78 in the category of Independent Practice since 2007.
Adele completed her Degree of Doctor of Literature and Philosophy (Ph.D) in Clinical Psychology at the University of Limpopo (Medunsa Campus) in 2011. The focus of the Ph.D: The effects of a pre-marital communication training programme and the levels of marital satisfaction: A one-year follow-up study.
Adele is currently in full time private practice in Fourways/Lonehill, Sandton, Johannesburg, where her focus is on psychotherapy as a Clinical Psychologist.
Adele lectured the 3rd year and honours UNISA students at Varsity College in Sandton for 3 years. She is often asked to provide her professional psychological perspective for various media forums.
