Introduction
Located in Downtown LA, one block from the Staples Center and LA Live and two blocks from the Convention Center, Rivera offers several options for private events. Each area offers distinct features that are unique and create a one of a kind experience for you and your guests.
The Sangre Room:
This Spanish themed room features the private collection of Rivera's 'members-onlyâ? Tequila Bottles. These bottles are Chef John Rivera Sedlar's handcrafted extra Anejo Tequila. A blood red chandelier, conquistador helmut lamps and the award-winning photography of Michael Crouser, Los Toros, highlight the dining area. The Sangre Room comfortably seats up to 34 guests for a sit-down dinner and can accommodate up to 50 guests for cocktail receptions. The food and beverage minimum for the exclusive use of the Sangre Room varies based on the time and date of your event. All sales of food and beverage are applicable towards this minimum guarantee.
The Samba Lounge:
The Samba Lounge is Rivera's most spacious indoor area for a cocktail reception or seated dinner. Brilliantly designed with a rainforest green, travertine floor and adjacent to our mixology bar, guests can enjoy tasting flights of seasonal tequila or sip fantastic mixed artisanal cocktails. The burnished bronze and leather Tequila Chairs, custom-created by Rivera partner, Eddie Sotto, encourage luxurious and relaxed tastings. The Samba Lounge comfortably seats anywhere from 35 to 60 guests for a sit-down dinner and can accommodate 35 and 150 guests (with the inclusion of Playa Bar) for a cocktail reception.
Red Dragon and Playa Bar:
Red Dragon, our community table, is a large, tango-red marble square that sits under an abalone shell chandelier. A few steps away resides the fresh, sandy-colored Playa Bar. An interactive chef's bar, guests can actively watch as each dish is created. These communal spaces are the perfect place for a small special event, as Red Dragon seats up to 16 guests and Playa Bar offers seating for 13 guests.
Rivera/Met Lofts Courtyard:
Steps outside of Rivera's front door, through the Met Lofts lobby is the Bauhaus style courtyard. Elegant mirrored lighting, landscaped palm trees, and artistic falling water make this urban space perfect for any size event up to 250 guests. Offering an unparalleled view of Downtown LA, the Met Lofts Courtyard is available for afternoon and evening networking events, cocktail receptions, or social and corporate gatherings.
Restaurant Buyout:
Rivera offers a restaurant-buyout option and can accommodate up to 200 guests.

Shannon Ports is happy to assist with the planning of all special events, every step of the way. She works intimately with Chef Sedlar to create a unique menu that matches the vision of the host.
Although the food we eat today in Los Angeles is influenced by cultures from around the world as well as by modern fusion, the true original cuisine of our city remains essentially Latin. Every bite we eat resonates with Latin cuisine's rich, three-thousand-year history spanning three continents. The individual dinner menus in the three dining rooms at Rivera's Sangre (Spain and Portugal), Samba (South America), and Playa Bar (Mexico and the Southwest) present the iconic dishes of this historic odyssey.
These CONEXIONES menus offer a wide range of creative choices that mark definitive moments in the evolution of Latin cuisine. To learn firsthand about each dish from Chef John Rivera Sedlar simply call 1-310-464-6884 and follow the prompts on the dinner menus.
He also provides recorded messages on how to pair wines with Latin foods, his philosophies on 'Spiceologyâ? and finishing dishes with special salts and olive oils, and even offers a recommendation and anecdote about his favorite mescal and tequila cocktails.
