Rick Muenz is a member of the Law Society of Alberta and the Law Society of British Columbia. He has defended cases in Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Ontario.
He has practiced exclusively criminal law since 1992. He has devoted himself to the area of impaired driving law for more than 10 years. He has practiced in association with the criminal law firm Batting, Der since 1992. He has been a volunteer and instructor at the Alberta Law Society Bar Admission Course. He has lectured at the University of Calgary Law School concerning impaired driving. He has addressed the Canadian Bar Association Criminal Law Subsection. He has assisted with the new recruit class of the Calgary Police Service in preparing for dealing with impaired driving cases.
He has appeared in all levels of court in Canada including:
Traffic court,
Provincial Court (Criminal division),
Provincial Court, (youth division),
The Court of Queen's Bench (including more than 20 jury trials),
The Court of Queen's Bench Summary Conviction Appeals,
The Alberta Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada.
He has also appeared in other quasi judicial and administrative bodies, such as, the Driver Control Board, the Traffic Safety Board, and the Law Enforcement Review Board.
He is a contributor to the book, "A Parent's Handbook Concerning Drug Use" (author Dr. K. Wayne Hindmarsh Ph. D., current Dean of the College of Pharmacy University of Toronto.) He has given numerous addresses to the Parents Research Institute for Drug Education (P.R.I.D.E.) including the opening address at a national conference.He was invited by the late Governor General of Canada, the Honourable Ramon John Hnatyshyn, to parliament for his part in speaking out for his assistance in helping Canada¹s youth in the area of drug abuse.
