Introduction
Joe's Bakery & Coffee Shop is a family business serving Austin for over 45 years. An iconic fixture of East Austin, the restaurant has
grown to become a haven for their customers. New and old customers enjoy the same recipes we opened our doors to in 1962.
From its beginnings as La Oriental Grocery on E. 9th St. (1935) the Avila family has commited themselves to serving the community
and their customers. Joe's Bakery celebrates the traditions of the Mexican American culture from the food to the music.
Best Hangover cure in East Austin is their Caldo de Res...get the large and order onions and cilantro with it...Joe's is a traditional family style diner/cafe...and has the diner coffee that fits the bill..good but needs a little sugar to make it just right. Price is decent, lots of tables and generally not a long wait even on Sat. to get seated...btw...the bacon is dipped in flour before frying it up...just awesome!

Belly up to the lunch counter for homemade migas, tacos, and award-winning menudo, then step up to the pastry counter for piedras, novias, cemitas, y capirotada. See if you don't leave a fat and happy customer. Open 7am to 3pm Tuesday through Sunday.
