Introduction
This cheery spot appears to be the social center for the growing local Salvadoran population. It's a cozy, comfortable place serving Mexican and Salvadoran specialties. We recommend the arroz con albóndigas, the mariscadas, and the pupusas. There are burgers, burritos, and soup for the less adventurous. They're cooking seven days a week, early 'til late.
El Zunzal won the annual best guacamole served in a restaurant in Austin Texas award so many times that I retired the category.
El Zunzal puts out some of the finest and biggest tamales in town, oven roasted carnitas, pupusas and quart bottles of icy Regia Lager to wash everything down.
El Z. specializes in El Salvadoran cuisine, though they do have some standard Mexican dishes for those with no sense of adventure.
