Homes Kitchen received honors for the 2007 Top Metro Favorite Restaurant award in New York City, as well as achieving a dining excellence award in the category of Top 100 Healthy Menus 2008. The Top 100 Award is a national event that strives to recognize, cultivate and preserve the best in Chinese cuisine standards and excellence. In addition to cuisine and restaurant recognition, the competition includes a Mystery Diner Program. The winners are chosen from the Mystery Diner program, which makes anonymous visits and evaluations of each candidate restaurant, as well as from direct votes from diners and the public at large.
It's hard to find good Peking duck-the kind that's crispy on the outside, meaty and juicy on the inside. But Home's Kitchen serves the real thing. Start with dumpling (steamed or fried $4.75), and get the Peking Duck ($13.75 for half, $26.00 for whole) to share. The dumplings are filled to the dough with well-seasoned meat (a rarity), and the crispy, rich duck comes with all the fixings. Home's also offers $7.25 dinner specials, which include a green salad, soup or soda, white or brown rice and one of 30 main entrees such as shrimp with black bean sauce and Buddhist delight.
