Introduction
Beginners and experienced students are always welcome to join us. We train on Tuesdays 6-7pm (Beginners) 7-8.30 pm (Experienced), Thursdays 6-7 pm (Beginners) 7-8.30 pm (Experienced) & Saturdays 10-11 am. No membership required but you should join the Japan Karate Association which costs £25 pa. Lesson charges are £4 for one hour, £5 for more.
The instructor is a black belt, 3rd Dan, and is affiliated to the world renowned Japan Karate Association in England, governed by Ohta Sensei, 7th Dan, one of the best karate teachers in the world.

Simon Marchant-Jones
Karate Instructor
Sensei Simon is a JKA Qualified Instructor and third dan black belt. He first studied karate at Leeds University in 1974. In 1976 he moved to London and joined the renowned Marshall Street dojo of the late Sensei Enoeda until 1982 when he rested until 1999!
In 1999, aged 45, he re-commenced training and gained his first black belt in 2003 under Sensei Ohta, Chief Instructor of the JKA in England, and passed the second dan in 2006. In 2011 Sensei Simon passed his third dan, graded by Sensei Ohta 7th dan and Sensei Daniel Lautier 7th dan of JKA France.
Sensei Simon trains regularly at Sensei Ohta's club, Oasis SKC, so that he can bring back new teaching methods to Harpenden JKA students.
A mother of one of our students wrote recently "He has so enjoyed learning with you, you are a great teacher & so fantastic with the kids, I feel really lucky that xxxx has had you as a teacher."
Sensei Simon is a chartered accountant and treasurer of JKA England. He is registered with the UK Register of Learning Providers no. 10027871 and has enhanced DBS disclosure.
