Introduction
Gosainkunda Lake situated at an altitude of 4,380 from sea level is an alpine fresh water lake in the Himalayas. There are many lakes ( 108 lakes ) in around the Gosainkunda Lake. The lake contribute to the River Trishuli, the most popular rafting river in Nepal. The lake is associated with Hindu epic story as lord Shiva once swallowed poison and to lower down effect of poison he chopped stone by his trident and drunk water which comes out of stone cliff. Thus, Hindus believe it as the most sacred and ethnic Tamang who follows tibetan buddhism and live in Langtang valley also take the lake as sacred. Hindu devotees visit the lake in full moon day of August to take holy dip in this cold water lake. The trek begins with the drive to Dhunche and trek uphill to the Lake. We pass We cross Lauribina La pass at (4,610 m.) and reach to Helambu region. During the trek we view majestic views of the Himalayan peaks including west Himal Chuli (7,893 m.), Manaslu (8,156 m.) and Ganesh Himal (7406 m).
