With the help of friends and family, this mother and daughter team has erected a modern monument to the cafés, music halls, and cabarets of pre-War Eastern Europe, Berlin, and New York. Yet, their distinctly Texan warmth and hospitality adds a familial charm.
E.S.S.R is here to provide a stimulating, artistic, and social environment to luxuriate in with friends, lovers, and comrades, while imbibing vintage cocktails, gourmet cuisine, fine wine, eclectic beer, live music, and local art.
Executive chef, Sonya Cote, supports the "slow food" revolution by buying local produce & proteins from Texas farmers, ranchers & fisherman. Her menus utilize the freshest ingredients and are consistently evolving to bring you dynamic and divine delicacies from Texas' burgeoning sustainable food community. The E.S.S.R. does not just bring you some local foods but is firmly committed to a radically local menu. Described as rustic French with a soul food flair, she and her staff prepare dishes with a passion and patience that can be savored in every bite.
Executive barkeep, Chauncy James, has dedicated himself to the perfect libation. An award winning mixologist, he has lovingly created a menu that portrays a profound appreciation for the classic American cocktail. His selections of beers and boutique wines change seasonally and pair perfectly with our edibles. Chauncy and his talented bar staff transport you back in time to the golden era of cocktails while continually crafting award winning modern potations. Made from the freshest ingredients and by a team of virtuosos these beverages will enliven even the most discerning palettes.
Designed by Mickie Danae Spencer, owner, creator, and metal worker, the space embodies an eye for detail from the hand crafted furniture to the periscope draft system. The bar, shelves, kitchen, outside lanterns, lamps, and chandeliers all bear the loving touch of this talented and inspired craftsman.
