Introduction
Casa Josephina is an idyllic luxury Algarve villa with a large private swimming pool (12 x 6m), situated in unspoilt countryside but only 15 min. drive from Faro. The villa lies in the middle of a beautiful 2700 sq. m. large garden with fruit trees, roses, bougainvillea and other colourful plants. Casa Josephina is suitable for 2 to 8 people and offers privacy, space and comfort. The villa has 4 bedrooms, all with good quality comfortable beds, air con and central heating. There are two en suite bedrooms, one on the ground floor. Two of the three upstairs bedrooms offer access to a large roof terrace with fantastic views to the sea. Casa Josephina has a modern fully equipped kitchen with dining table and a spacious living room (50 sq.m.) with free wireless internet and a new LCD satellite TV offering both English and Dutch TV. Outside in the garden you can find several sunny as well as shady terraces where you can unwind, enjoy the peace and quiet, have a drink or read a book.
Casa Josephina is on the edge of the village, secluded but not isolated - there is a café close by, and a restaurant only 750m away. The corner shop is only 300m away but for most shopping, we recommend the huge choice (supermarkets, fish market, meat and vegetable market) in Olhao, just 4.5 km down the road. There is an abundance of restaurants and cafés in the area, not just in Moncarapacho and Olhao (surely the Portuguese seafood capital!) but along the little country lanes round the village. Most essentials can be found in Olhao (banks, newsagents, pharmacies) and on the outskirts of Faro, the Algarve Forum shopping mall has lots of clothes shops - as does the big shopping mall on the outskirts of Tavira.
The nearest beaches are just 4 - 5 km away in Olhao and the village of Fuzeta. Fuzeta is still an original fishing village with a beautiful beach and a nice lagoon! A ferry (just 5 min) takes you to a fantastic, miles-long sandy beach on the island on the other side of the lagoon. From Olhao, take the ferry across the lagoon system to one of the many "barrier islands", some bustling, some deserted sandy paradises. Near Santa Luzia you can even take a miniature train to one of the islands!
The lovely little inland village of Moncarapacho is 4 km away, and Olhao and Fuzeta about 4.5 km. Olhao has an excellent selection of restaurants and fish markets. The lovely town of Tavira, the jewel of the Algarve, is only 10 - 15 min away by car. Most of the attractions of the Algarve (water parks, boat trips, water sports etc) are within 30 min or so. 30 min drive to the east takes you to the border with Spain. Lisbon is about 2.5 hours away by motorway.
Casa Josephina is ideally placed for you to enjoy a wide range of the golf courses for which the Algarve is justly famous. Within 20 - 25 minutes' drive lie the relatively undiscovered East Algarve courses such as Benamor, Quinta da Ria, Quinta da Cima, Castro Marim and the fabulous Monte Rei (voted No. 1 course in Portugal). The better-known courses of Vilamoura, Quinta do Lago, Vale de Lobo etc. are only 30 minutes' drive to the West. Your only problem will be choosing which ones to play!
Prices (all in Euros) include: all linen/towels, end cleaning, wi-fi, services of English-speaking villa manager who lives nearby and is available to help you throughout your stay, and 25 Eur worth of electricity (enough for air conditioning provided it isn't left on all day!). Please note - new for 2013/14 -winter prices now include the cost of gas heating. Booking procedure is simple, and is done by email exchange with the owners. 20% non-refundable deposit payable on booking, balance 30 days before holiday.
