I’m a multidisciplinary artist with a background in visual arts film and motion graphics animation over the past years I have been involved on environmental and social actions and movements. Through my exploration of these connections I became sensitive to an understanding of how intimately we are linked with our natural and built environments as well as each other and how our participation in this interconnectedness can in turn affect our environments in a constant dynamic of energetic exchange. Many artists speak of the accidental ways they found their path towards art — Mike Fantuz is not one of those artists. Born in Guelph Ontario the foundation of Mike’s artistic career began even before his birth specifically in the 1940s. I was born in the Ottawa Valley on the Mississippi River. The library in that little town had about six large beautiful oil paintings of some peaceful landscapes above the book shelves. My Mother was an avid reader and so we visited it often. I studied them over and over wondering how they were made . I was only seven or eight years old but very impressed with these pictures. I decided then and there I wanted to learn how to do that.... read more
