Introduction
Recommended by Rick Stein in his latest book Seafood Lovers' Guide, Whelns has recently been refurbished. Customers can now enjoy dining in comfortable surroundings on two levels and the restaurant is available for private parties.
Fish, chips & peas contain a lot of natural goodness. It's a balanced meal giving you protein, calcium, iron & vitamins C & A, it tastes good too!
Our wild, organic fish is of the finest quality, caught in well managed fisheries and sourced from sustainable stocks.
Haddock with its fine flavour is the northern preference for fish & chips.
Cod is succulent with chunky flakes.
Our batter is made to a light consistency and is allowed to stand before use.
Our Gourmet fish cakes are made with prime fish, potatoes, herbs, lemon or lime juice, then coated in brown breadcrumbs.
Quality local or Lincs Piper potatoes are fried at 150 degrees for 5 minutes then flash finished at 180 degrees.
Our computer controlled frying range maintains the pure vegetable oil in good condition - we filter twice daily.
