How Food Labels help with Health & Safety and profits
When it comes to health and safety, all precautions should be considered to ensure that the food you are preparing and ultimately selling to your customers are meeting health and safety guidelines.
One of these to consider is food allergens.
Labelling food stuff for allergy sufferers.
In December 2014, the EU Food Regulations changed to legalise food labelling of all food stuffs for protection of allergy sufferers. This was advised for over 12 months previous and many businesses changed the way they worked.
The main reasons behind this legislation is to protect consumers, from all food preparation areas to final consumption of food. This is not only directed towards cafes, restaurants and hotels but also across all food preparation areas – ready meals, sandwich and food industry services.
Food allergy sufferers find it difficult to eat out in public places, fast food, restaurants, bars, hotels, cafes and other food outlets; not being confident in the food they eat can limit their choice of places to eat.
By having a food labelling system in place, with Allergen Order Pads for your waiting staff to ask your customers about any allergy sufferers in their group, will not only ensure all staff are aware of the importance of food allergies but will also show your customers of your commitment to health and safety and customer’s well being.
Imagine how your reputation will increase if your waiting staff are asking about food allergy sufferers? Not only will they tell their friends but also be more confident in your health and safety practises.
