I pre-booked a table for my family and I to dine at The Waterfall Restaurant on Thursday 26th July. On entry, our first impression was that it looked quite welcoming and cosy (considering we were the only people in there)
However, that impression soon changed. We purchased our drinks from the bar then sat down and waited for our orders to be taken. My husband ordered the fried ockra for starters whilst everybody else went straight for their mains, which ranged from fried chicken and macaroni cheese, to curry goat and rice, stew fish, and jerk chicken.
5 minutes after taking our orders through, the waiter came back and told my husband that *the chef's NOT DOING the ockra tonight!!! No apology, no explanation, other than *he's not able*!!
Our food arrived, and from there our disappointment continued......

The chicken wasn't *jerked* properly and was served with cement sauce and the fish was served with *ockra* but was pretty mediocre. Once we had eaten what we could, we decided to order desserts. Nope... that wasn't happening either. It was ice-cream or nothing * although the menu says otherwise*
I can quite honestly say that, my husband could of cooked the food better.......blindfolded!!
As a person who works in the hospitality industry, I find their customer service skills leaves a lot to be desired.
Would any of us eat here again??? I think we all know the answer to that question.......

I went to the Sunday Buffet the food was very good. The table layout was excellent lovely crisp table cloth. My score reflects the inattentive bar staff. The bathroom could also do with an update given how lovely the eating area had been dressed and presented it seemed a shame.

Went to the restaurant on Sarurday night, it was empty bar two people. Was asked to wait as soon as we got there even there were plenty of tables. Were given a small table at the top of the stairs. There was a bad smell of damp drifting up, not very nice. Never had the wine we wanted so chose another, asked for another bottle of wine but they never had a cold one, so asked for some ice. The food was lovely but the staff need some training on how to look after their customers. They only had ice-cream for dessert. Another couple arrived and where given a large table straight away and did not have to wait to be seated, why we had to wait still is puzzling me. Would go again but would ask to seated away from the damp smell of the stairs.

First of all this may be eat as much as you like restaurant however it was not made clear that you had a limited time to eat your food so dont assume that you can take your time and relax while eating your food becuase you cant! The food was good, but I felt they could have re filled the dishes abit more.
Also I felt as though I was being watched constantly by the huge number of staff that were there, considering they werent doing anything but standing at the bar talking and ignoring customers orders for drinks!!!!
And if you were planning on eating there for a sunday dinner, make sure you bring cash as for something ridiculous reason they 'dont accept card payment on a Sunday!!!' even though it wasnt stated on arrival or even during our meal but at the end when you were being rushed out the door as your time slot was up.
I will most definately not be returning to Waterfall.

I visited the waterfall restaurant on Saturday for my 25th birthday. I originally wanted to book for sunday but was told that they would be closed on that particular sunday, but I wasn't given an explanation as to why it wouldn't be open. The service was very slow as they were under staffed. The portion sizes were very large except for the starter (I paid just under £5 for 4 very small BBQ chicken wings!). My starter was very tasty but extremely over priced. My main (stew chicken) was ok but the mac & cheese was bland & the quality of the roti was very poor & the rice & peas didn't seem fresh.
My husband had the curried goat which was very dry, hard & under cooked. My mum had the jerk fish which she thought was very nice but unfortunately she fell ill with food poisoning that very same nite! I'm very angry that my mum suffered from a very violent case of food poisoning from the Waterfall & I would NEVER recommend the restaurant to ANYBODY! It absolutely spoilt my birthday celebration:(

Very unhappy with the food. The fritters were extremely large and contained very little salt fish, and appeared to be fried in old oil as were very dark in colour and tasteless. The rice & peas was obviously heated from frozen, the beef in the stew was tender, but the sauce appeared to be from a cube or powder. Juice was not freshly made. I hope that these comments will get the restaurant to look at the food preparation. As for the fritters, I have never seen fritters like those in my life. Sorry will not be eating at or recommending Waterfall.

The Waterfall is great! I have never tried Caribbean food before, a mate took me out to dine here, and it was great! The portions are large and well priced, and delicious too. Atmosphere was great, I've recommended this place to all my mates.

I visited your web site in my search of a good caribbean restaurant and came across The Waterfall Restaurant located in Penge SE20. To tell the truth I was quite surprised and taken-a-back to see the one absolutely negative feedback posted. To see for myself, I went to the Waterfall last Sunday and can only summise that the last feedback must have been commenting on another restaurant.
The Waterfall was very warm and welcoming, the staff, considering their ages were polite and acted professionally. The music was rightly pitched, other diners were old, young, church groups, anniversary celebration and a birthday for which there was a massive cake carried to the table by the waitresses and everyone joined in the happy birthday song, it was marvelous. The food was simply first class. There was enogh of everything for everyone. I will be back there next Sunday and I have booked a table for 25 for Mothers Day. Vanessa, Bromley.
