Body scrubs: full-body, invigorating, refreshing, salt and olive oil skin exfoliation body scrub, applied using exfoliation gloves after a massage. Exfoliation scrubs increase blood supply to the skin; remove dry skin; make the skin look younger; cleanse the skin; improve circulation; the olive oil moisturises the skin...there are so many benefits. Also, having someone else scrub your skin adds to the luxury and indulgence of this treatment.
Salt is also used as a cleanser in energy healing to remove negative energies - therefore you should be mentally and physically cleansed afterwards. After the scrub the oil and salt is removed during a hot shower. Full-body moisturiser is then applied using cotton gloves. The face is then cleansed and moisturised using high-quality facial moisturiser which is massaged into the face and neck.
This is a home based-business, with a welcoming, friendly, intelligent, educated, professional, competent, confident, mature therapist. Very quiet, cosy, peaceful therapy room, without the noise, confusion and rush of a busy salon service.
This is high quality, manual massage in a very comfortable setting where you are met at your appointed time. You have my undivided attention from start to finish; this is not just massage - it's an experience.
A one-hour massage appointment in many salons means the actual massage lasts for forty-five minutes. When you book a massage at The Healing Room, a one-hour massage appointment means a one-hour massage. You will also have the option of keeping the nourishing oil on your skin, or you can have a hot shower - after the massage (or before and after).
About Massage
Massage is manipulation of the body’s muscle tissue. It was once considered a luxury in which the wealthy indulged themselves. It is however probably, in my opinion, a necessity and more beneficial for numerous conditions and comes before many pharmaceutical remedies.
Massage lowers levels of cortisol, which is a hormone released in response to stress. Cortisol releases blood sugar to help us cope with the fight or flight response to stress. If this sugar not used due to sedentary lifestyles, then this accumulates primarily as abdominal fat. We tense the muscles in our shoulders often without realising we are doing this and also strain muscles sitting for hours in the same position. This tension deprives our muscles of oxygen and most of us do not exercise enough.
People experience anxiety and mild depression and often the only treatments are medication. Anxieties make our muscles tense and medication and often more importantly side effects can make matters much worse. Constant mental and physical tension can cause severe pain, which can be alleviated by massage.
Persistent tension can restrict blood circulation and nutrient supplies to the body’s organs and tissues. The fascia that envelops the muscles becomes increasingly dense and negatively affects posture and breathing. The experience of low-grade, habitual tension can contribute to chronic hormonal, biochemical and neurological problems of all kinds. Massage interrupts such stress-inducing patterns, and helps nudge the body back into a natural state of balance.
Massage is probably essential for completely healthy people who engage in sports. There are very few sportswomen and men who do not use massage as part of their regime. In fact exercising without warming up the muscles is inadvisable. Massage is also popular as part of a good grooming routine as its use supports a cared-for attractive appearance.
Massage improves our health, improves quantity and quality of sleep, increases our immunity by increasing the production of white blood cells, massage makes us look healthier, increases flexibility, suppleness, and fitness, is deeply relaxing therefore relieves stress - so makes us mentally fitter and resilient, increases serotonin, makes us feel and look more cared for, makes us happier, less tense, improves muscle quality, makes us feel less lonely and the hot, natural oil improves skin quality.
Massage increases the availability of all neurohormones and increases oxygenation of the blood...the list is endless... Massage just feels great and is possibly the very best way to spend your time and money.
