Introduction
Established in 1987 with name and owner change in 2006, we have maintained and created many gardens, leaving our clients completely satisfied. With over 20 years experience in our field, we excel in every aspect of domestic and Industrial garden, in and around Cape Town.
We are easily recognizable with our red fleet and staff with red and blue uniforms. There are currently 21 permanent staff members in our workforce, with some that have been employed by us for longer than 18 years. Our teams consist of a qualified manager/supervisor and 4 to 5 gardeners, which would gladly help with any requirements our clients might need.
GARDEN MAINTENANCE
Once the clean-up has been completed, we can now maintain the garden on a fortnightly or monthly schedule. To have a beautiful garden we recommend garden maintenance. It allows you to obtain full control of your beautiful garden. A beautiful garden is more cost effective than an unmaintained garden.
Garden Maintenance entails mowing the lawn, trimming edges, cleaning and turning soil of flowerbeds, raking and sweeping leaves, removing undesired weeds in paving areas and trimming hedges. We recommend that we service your garden fortnightly, but during winter it is only necessary to maintain the garden once a month.
If desired by the client, an irrigation check could also be included in the service. Extra work is most welcome, seeing that no one can foresee what will happen in your garden.
INSTANT GARDEN CLEAN UPS
Sometimes a garden gets neglected by various reasons and needs a clean-up. A clean-up entails restoring the garden back to it’s original state. We offer to cut the lawn to desired height. Cutting of flowerbed edges and path edges. Shaping of the flowerbeds, if needed.
Clean out the flowerbeds, which entails removing all dead plants, leaves, weeds, foliage and any undesired object in that specific flowerbed. Cutting back, trimming, pruning of shrubs, trees hedges and broken branches. Removing of undesired weeds and grass on paved areas.
Removing of garden refuse generated by us during the clean-up operation, or existing refuse that was on the property. We quote according to our company standards and to the client’s specific needs.
In order to maintain a garden, a clean-up is usually done. Once the clean-up has been completed, we can now maintain the garden on a fortnightly or monthly schedule.
IRRIGATION
To obtain a healthy, happy and beautiful garden, an irrigation system would help you in achieving this goal. In this day and age with life being an absolute buzz, people don’t get to everything in their busy schedule, so to get an irrigation system installed would make life easier.
We have installed well over 200 computerised and manual irrigation systems. Computerised systems normally makes life much easier, leaving the client to relax, sit back and enjoy life.
As an additional service, we also offer a borehole/WellPoint service, installing water pumps, no matter how big or small. We only use quality irrigation parts, that comes guaranteed from our suppliers, leaving ease of mind should a part be faulty, due to manufacturer’s neglect.
COMPOST
Compost plays an important role in having a beautiful, lush garden.
We can supply the compost to you or we could apply it in the flowerbeds or on the lawn. The compost we use is entirely organical, which contains no known chemicals. Compost should be applied in thin layers on lawn and it is nor recommended thicker than 2 cm. Applying a layer thicker than 2 cm, could in fact be harmful to the lawn.
Applying compost to flowerbeds, however, could be applied in a layer thicker than 2 cm, all depending on the specific need. Our compost comes weed free, but should bare in mind that once a lawn receives compost, the chances of weeds arise to 50%. The weeds is caused by the rich feeding the lawn or flowerbed had just received, and condition the lawn was in previously.
There is a difference in composting a lawn and topdressing a lawn. Composting only provides feeding and should not be used to level a lawn or to fill up.
TREE FELLING AND HEDGE TRIMMING
Tree felling and hedge trimming sometimes forms an important part of maintaining and caring for your garden. We specialise in Palm pruning, in which case we normally use a “cherry picker†to obtain the desired height in a safe manner.
The height we specialise in is between 1 metre up to 15 metres in height. We use SABS approved equipment, to ensure safety of our staff and clients and property of our clients. We have done some hedges in the past that is almost 50 metres in length and 3 metres in height. Carting away of refuse can also be done once we have felled a tree or trimmed hedges.
WEED CONTROL
The first signs of weeds in the lawn could be due to the lack of nourishment in the lawn. We usually access the situation and then together with the client decide what would be appropriate. The herbicides we use are 100% non-detrimental to animals or humans. There are basically two different types of herbicides we use. The one is only suitable for lawns and the other only suitable for paved areas, such as walkways, paths, roads and driveways.
Once the client decides to apply the herbicide, we first inspect the lawn to insure that the lawn would be strong enough to handle the herbicide. We try not to apply herbicide and mow the lawn on the same day, but there has been extreme cases in the past. Once again, we try and work as safe as possible, baring the client and staff’s safety in mind.
FERTILIZERS
There are a vast range of fertilizers available on the market today, to help with growth of plants, trees and shrubs, lawns and herbs and spices.
The most common fertilizers are the granule fertilizer, as seen in the picture. We normally use the granule type of fertilizer, have used the liquid fertilizer on numerous sites in the past.
It is quite important to water the specific area after the fertilizer has been applied, due to the fact that it could burn the lawn and defeat the means of applying fertilizer. Being such a nature type of person, I would recommend the use of fertilizers on alternate occasions with compost.
LANDSCAPING
A well designed, landscaped garden changes the whole outlook and future of your garden. We have designed and landscaped gardens from as small as 2m² upwards.
We have a wide range of ideas, ranging from domestic to industrial, shopping complexes and public open spaces. The backdrop of the client’s home or building usually inspires me to create more innovative ideas, when designing a specific garden.
We can incorporate the existing garden into the new design or it can be revamped to an absolute paradise for you and your family to enjoy.
ROLL-ON LAWN
We specialize in two different types of Roll-on Lawn, named Buffalo and Kikuyu. Buffalo lawn is a more hardier and a coarser grass and can be planted in semi shaded gardens, and has advantages such as lower maintenance than kikuyu. Kikuyu is the more lusher and softer of the two for the kids to play on.
If well looked after, both these lawns can last for years provided our guidelines that we provide once we installed the lawn, is being followed.
Once we have installed the lawn we do not roll a roller over it, to level it out. In the past, we have found that the lawn seems to die within the first two weeks after installation.
LAWN SCARIFYING
Lawn scarifying or dethatching as it is also known is the process of removing thatch (organic matter) or moss from the lawn to encourage a healthy lawn. This essential lawn care task is carried out using either a purpose built powered machine or a hand implement such as a spring tine rake. There are two key times during the year when scarifying or dethatching should be carried out on the lawn, the spring and early autumn.
ROSE & HYDRANGEA PRUNING
Rose and hydrangea pruning pays a very important role in maintaining a beautiful and healthy Rose or hydrangea plant.
The correct time to prune these plants are usually mid-winter, for them to be ready to bloom in Spring. Once it has been pruned, we seal the cuts with a sealant and apply bone-meal and compost around the base of the plant.
This provides nourishment to the plant in order to develop in a fantastic bloom. One week later, we will apply rosecare to ensure no pests or fungus sets into the plant/bush.
GUTTER CLEANING
Clean roof gutters forms a important part in a well maintained garden and property. During autumn, trees loses it’s leaves and most of the times it ends up in the roof gutter. This causes blockage and can leave you with huge costs, if the gutters would get cluttered or break.
Here again we provide ease of mind once we have cleaned the gutters. Very high standards of safety equipment are used when we would clean the gutters.
