Dog Walking:
Our group dog walks are for a maximum of 4 dogs. All of our walks are for a full 1 hour and we offer 5 dog walking times spaced through out the day. These are for well socialised, friendly dogs only who are able to walked off lead and show good recall skills.
With over 25 years experience of owning, handling and working with dogs, you can be assured that your canine chum will be in safe hands with us here at The Dog House.
As a local, independent company with just 2 dedicated staff, here at The Dog House we specialise – and our speciality is taking personal care of your dog. This means that you will only ever have Hazel or Suzanne entering your home to take special care of your precious pooch.
So as dog owners ourselves, we understand that trusting someone with the care of your dog is something extremely important and that’s why we take it more seriously than anyone else we know.

Hazel Rogers
Dog Walker / Managing Director
Hazel is a former Prison Officer and it was whilst working for the Prison Service that the idea for The Dog House was formed. Hazel found it increasingly difficult to find a quality dog walking service for her own dog, that would fit around her changing shift pattern.
Hazel says “I became frustrated that companies believed that dog walkers were only needed between Monday to Friday, 9 – 5pm. It was clear that there was a real need for a dog walking service that was tailored to the personal requirements of the customer, not the owner of the companyâ€. And so she founded The Dog House.

Always one to take up a challenge, she set about researching how to start her own company. That was in 2013 and since then The Dog House has become one of Watford’s most respected dog walking services. Hazel says “I am proud of the success of The Dog House, as a measure we even have customers recommended to us from other companies! Our reputation is built on 3 simple principles: loving all of the dogs that we walk, being professional at all times and providing our customers a 1st class service. If we continue to stick to those 3 founding principles, I believe we will continue to make our customers happyâ€
2015 has seen Hazel enrol with The Association of Professional Dog Trainers UK. She will begin the 12 month foundation course in April 2015. She will need to complete nine, 2000 word essays on various topics such as canine communication and body language, diet and exercise, how dogs learn and class planning and instruction. She will also need to complete two, 4 day practical assessments before gaining her qualification.
To gain further “hands-on†dog training experience, she is currently shadowing local trainer, Regan Skinner. Regan has over 30 years experience and is helping Hazel to apply her theory knowledge into practical dog training sessions with owners and their dogs.

Suzanne Patterson
Admin / Casual Dog Walker
Suzanne boasts a range of senior project management positions within the retail sector.
She originally came to The Dog House as a customer, but was so impressed with Hazel and the company ethos that she emulated TV’s Dragons Den and said “I’m in!â€. She now mainly works behind the scenes, but loves to take time out and help Hazel with the dog walking.
Suzanne says “I can not think of anything better than being able to spend my time in the company of happy, relaxed and contented dogs. Joining The Dog House has been a fantastic experience and it makes “going to the office†a real pleasure. It was obvious when I first met Hazel that she has a real passion for her work and the standard of her service was fantastic. I had no hesitations in forming a partnership with The Dog House as from the start, I could see that it stood for excellenceâ€
