Introduction
Welcome to The Bricklayer's Arms Beer blog. Over the coming months I'll be blogging on all things to do with real ale, beer festivals, brewing and running a pub. Contributions from readers will be most welcome.
An exciting week coming up. Tomorrow is the trade day for the Great British Beer festival up at Earl's Court. I'll be on a tour of the Meantime Brewery in Greenwich with fellow members of The Guild of Beer Writers in the morning. I will be paying particular attention to their lagers. I'm thinking of going all English with the lagers here as I've done with the wine list.
Then it's on to Earl's Court to CAMRA's book stand. I'm delighted and honoured to have been named as one of London's top real ale pubs to visit in Des de Moor's new book, so we'll be raising a glass or three to that.
I'll probably be nursing a terrible hangover on Wednesday morning but it's another early start. Myself and five other members of staff are off to Snowdonia National Park for three weeks to stage a Welsh Beer Festival. We've hired Barmouth Leisure Centre on the Mawdach Estuary, one of my favourite places on Earth. My folks have lived there since the late 1980s and I'm really looking forward to starting the first of what I hope will be an annual festival. Thanks to all the Welsh brewers who have helped me put it together, especially Eric at Otley and Beth at Purple Moose.
