The Brass Butterfly

The Brass Butterfly is a family owned and operated manufacturing business located in Historic Downtown Poultney, Vermont. The DeBonis Family has been handcrafting decorative Plant Rooters and Window Hardware in a circa 1800 Grain Mill since 1983. In the early 1990s an addition and renovations converted the area into manufacturing and office space to accommodate a growing business. At the same time, a line of Slate-ware kitchen products was introduced. Each piece is crafted from locally quarried slate to produce an environmentally friendly and durable item for the home and office. The natural, subtle variations in color and texture of the slate ensures that each piece is unique.

The frames of our Plant Rooters are crafted from copper coated wire which is bent and then welded at the joints to form the various designs. The black markings from each weld produce a unique, handcrafted look. A glass vase with an attached wooden base sits on a small pick to complete the rooter.

Our Window Hardware is crafted from black powder-coated wrought iron and steel. Some pieces are hand forged and others are available in a varied selection of finials.
