Introduction
The Taj Mahal is the oldest Indian restaurant in Putney. Established in 1964, we were one of the founding restaurants to bring authentic Indian cuisine to London. Our restaurant has always been family owned and we are immensely proud of our history.
We attribute our longevity to serving delicious unpretentious food using only the freshest ingredients. We also remain true to time-honoured Indian culinary techniques and at the heart of our kitchen is our traditional clay based tandoori oven. Although we have won numerous awards over the years, our greatest satisfaction has, and always will be, a satisfied customer.
After more than half a century with a classic Riverboat down the Ganges interior decor, we have recently undergone a major refurbishment to bring the Taj Mahal into the 21 st century. However, while the decor may have changed, our commitment to serving the freshest and most authentic Indian cuisine in London remains.
