Ultimately she began SweetPea Cakes and started working for the Public House Restaurants creating cakes for clients and signature desserts to complement their made-from-scratch menu. Today, as proprietress of the Crystal Lake cake & cupcake boutique, Carrie sets the standard in art, design, and creativity that her customers have grown to love. After graduating from Indiana University in 2010, joining the SweetPea Cakes team was an easy decision. Nickie’s first experience in the food industry was working at Ambrosia Patisserie while in high school. Helping around the kitchen wherever necessary begun her passion for delicious desserts. At SweetPea, Nickie’s creative side first came out being head baker and developing flavors for specialty cupcakes. Soon, working on fondant cakes with attention to detail became something else Nickie excelled at. Katie was born a baker! Helping her mother and grandmother bake European and American style desserts for all occasions. Deciding to make baking a career, she attended Kendall College in Chicago. At Kendall College, she studied classical french pastries, confections, and cake decorating under highly respected Chicago chefs. Newly graduated with a degree in Pastry Arts, Katie is excited to add her creativity and passion to the Sweet Pea team!
