Introduction
“Super Tuscanâ€: is a term used to describe some of the most innovative and superlative red wines from the Tuscany region in Italy.
The Super Tuscan movement began in the late 1960s when a few forward thinking wine makers in the Chianti region broke with tradition to create wines that did not conform to the strict regulations of the time by using unauthorised grape varieties and/or non-traditional oak barrels for aging. The resulting wines attracted international attention and are considered to be some of the finest wines produced in Italy.
Just as the Super Tuscans sought to offer something different, we will seek to offer the more unusual and finer wines and ingredients that Italy has to offer together with the best of the old favourites. We believe that good Italian food means quality ingredients cooked with minimum fuss to bring out maximum flavour and as such we have spent time seeking out the best suppliers. We also intend to change our wine list and food menus frequently as we continue to seek out Italy’s best wines and ingredients on your behalf so hopefully each time you visit there will be new dishes and wines on offer. As such, we hope you understand if a dish or wine you had on a previous visit is no longer available and encourage you to do as the Super Tuscans did and try something new and unfamiliar.
