Introduction
Sumsaré Wines is situated in the Western Cape Wine lands of South Africa on Wandsbeck Farm, 24 km from Robertson town on the Agterkliphoogte and Le Chasseur road. Sumsaré takes its name from "Erasmus" spelled backwards.
The first Erasmus Ancestors started out here in the year 1810. The farm has been in production for two Centuries, now housing the six and seventh Erasmus Generation, to cultivate their Vineyards at Wandsbeck Farm, in the deep, cool rich lime Karoo soil of the picturesque Robertson Valley. To celebrate this milestone in 2010, Danie Erasmus had a dream in 2007, and established Sumsaré Wines for his children the 7thGeneration to build on. On April 17th 2010 it turned into a reality when Sumsaré Wines was, officially launched.
We take pride in producing handcrafted limited release Wines and Spirits like potstilled Mampoer, Witblits and Brandy. Please make an appointment to experience our fine wines at our tasting venue that dates back to 1830 with its handmade claybricks and reed ceiling and poplar beams, an experience not to be missed.
