Introduction
I am a clinical hypnotherapist with a background in psychology and counselling. I have a Practitioner Diploma in Hypnotherapy, a Diploma in NLP and I am registered with the General Hypnotherapy Register, the UK’s largest Hypnotherapy Organisation.
I am able to offer hypnotherapy sessions covering a wide range of issues, such as quitting smoking, weight loss, healthy living, phobias and habits, as well as hypnotherapy for confidence, self-esteem and general relaxation.
Many people may be burdened in one way or another by negative habits or behaviours, or they may suffer life constraining anxiety or phobias caused by irrational fears or anxieties.
Hypnotherapy can be an effective form of treatment for these symptoms and behaviours and make noticeable improvements to your everyday living.
Our subconscious mind holds information collected throughout our life. This is knowledge which is based on our experiences, but is too large for our conscious mind to refer to on a frequent basis. This subconscious ‘experience store’ which is based on everything we have seen before, supplies mostly relevant knowledge to our conscious minds whenever we have to deal with a new situation in the present.
Your subconscious mind is there to look after you and help you make knowledgeable decisions. However, unwanted behaviours can be generated by the subconscious when it has become confused about what the appropriate behaviour should be for a particular situation. To ignore your subconscious’ recommendations can be emotionally challenging, which is why we find it difficult or seemingly impossible to overcome irrational anxiety or fears, or to break bad habits such as smoking or over eating - even though our conscious mind knows that any of these could damage our health and happiness.
Hypnosis is a natural state of mind where the body experiences a deep state of relaxation. It is often described as similar to daydreaming. During this time the conscious mind is resting but the unconscious mind is still active.
Hypnotherapy is the guided use of hypnosis whereby a therapist can access your subconscious mind to bring about positive changes and help you reach your personal goals.
During a session you will feel comfortable and deeply relaxed but you will not be unconscious, you could choose to get up and leave if you really wanted to.
It is not possible to hypnotise someone against their will and hypnotherapy will not work for you if you really don’t have the desire and motivation to make the changes you seek.
People experiencing hypnotherapy do not lose control. You will not say or do anything you don’t want to. Clients do not behave like you’ve probably seen people behave during hypnosis stage shows.
Could you benefit from hypnotherapy for any of the following issues?
Addictions • Agoraphobia • Anger Management • Anxiety • Bed wetting (Enurisis) • Blushing • Exam nerves • Fears • Fertility enhancement • Habit removal (e.g. Nail biting, Hair twiddling) • IBS • Lack of confidence • Low self esteem • Migraine and cluster headaches • Natural childbirth • OCD Obsessive compulsive disorder • Pain Management • Panic Attacks •
Phobias (e.g. • Dental, spiders, Flying) • Public speaking • Smoking cessation • Social anxiety • Sports performance enhancement • Stammering • Stress • Weight loss.
There may be more conditions that hypnotherapy can help you with. Just get in touch if you wish to discuss anything that may not be covered by this list.
