Introduction
Skylon offers a spectacular panorama of London's skyline, with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Thames from the first floor of the Royal Festival Hall.
Executive Chef Helena Puolakka oversees the destination Restaurant and relaxed, informal Grill, whilst the Bar serves classic and contemporary cocktails.
Skylon takes its name from the structure that was built for the 1951 Festival of Britain alongside the Festival Hall:a futuristic, cigar-shaped, steel and aluminium structure, lit from within and standing 300ft tall. Southbank Centre is celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Festival of Britain throughout the summer, and Skylon is joining in with Tonic, an exhibition of specially commissioned art.
