The company was started by Erin Shine in 2010 after getting laid off from a lighting retrofit company due to hard economic times. During his years of managing commercial and industrial energy efficient projects, he was frustrated by the lack of energy efficient lighting product information available along with slow, traditional lighting products distribution companies where prices constantly changed, companies were slow to send out quotes, and not much help was given in terms of what the correct retrofit or lighting products were best for each specific project.
