Introduction
SQLA Inc. (Square Los Angeles Inc.), Los Angeles’ hottest and trendiest urban design firm, specializing in landscape design, and architectural landscape design. We are dedicated to the art and craft of creating engaging landscape designer environments with lasting presence for living, work and play.
We were established in 1996 through the masterful guidance of expert licensed landscape architect Samuel K. Kim. SQLA Inc. provides a complete range of landscape architectural design services including urban design and site planning, site-specific landscape design, and more. We take care and pride in handling all construction observation, administration, and management tasks, throughout the complete design/build. Under Samuel’s leadership, our studio has successfully employed inventive and creative design solutions to numerous projects at scales that range from small intimate residential gardens to large multi-family residential communities, commercial centers, universities, and meticulously crafted landscape works.
Whether real, abstracted or virtual, we believe with a passion that natural environmental landscape design is essential for a healthy, drought tolerant landscape design environment. Through our creative explorations in landscape design, we lovingly employ our hands-on knowledge of both the physical and psychological qualities of the raw materials we use in our landscape design and in the construction of our sculptural works. Through these creative explorations and studies, we gain not only our renowned material intimacy, but we also add to our technical skills to understand and appreciate how these natural elements and man-made materials can be layered, abstracted, assembled, or fabricated to produce artful and meaningful landscape design, sculptures and more.
