Retroscreen Virology Group PLC, founded in 1988, is the world’s leading research company in human viral challenge models. Retroscreen has carried out studies in influenza, the common cold (HRV) and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) and is now developing the hVIVO model to expand out into studies using patient volunteers who already have an existing condition, such as asthma or COPD. Retroscreen Virology is committed to creating the next generation of drugs and vaccines for respiratory diseases. 

The platform has a much wider application in helping to better understand illness because our belief is that the best way to understand human disease is by studying it in humans, not laboratory models.

The team at Retroscreen are committed to creating the next generation of drugs and vaccines for a number of respiratory diseases and in exploring other disease areas with unmet medical needs, developing new human challenge models to address these too.

As well as the significant contribution made by healthy volunteers, these developments will mean working with patient volunteers who suffer with a specific illness or disease that we are targeting for further exploration and much greater in-depth understanding.
