THE HILL BAR

A wonderful place to eat and have a party. I held my joint 30th Birthday party there 2 weeks ago and it was great in every way. The staff was so helpful, the room down stairs was perfect for a private party. We also had a sit down meal for 10 people before hand which was a mix of steaks and pizza which everyone loved. As for value for money, second to none!

This place is pretty woeful. A car crash of a decorating job, with what can only be described as a style akin to an old peoples home. Jarring bright lighting, mismatched (not in a good way) furniture, cramped lay out, bad music (sting on loop when we there), a deli cheese/sweetshop/cocktail/pizza pub menu with mildly irritable customer service and a refreshingly overpowering scent of Mr Sheen combined with bleach and pot-purri which wafted through the meal... The sunday roast, hmm where to start? Sorry to say this was pretty grim too, the lamb was overcooked and rubbery not far off from shoe leather, the Yorkshire puddings tasted sour but luckily they were sprinkled with burnt onion or parsnip slithers, slimy gelatinous gravy (Bisto but somehow worse). Desert was some defrosted then refrozen ice cream gunk without the chocolate covering as per the menu. Basically, this place is below sub-par. Its on its way out and I find it hard to see how they have kept going for as long as they have? Where is Gordon Ramsey's kitchen nightmare team when you need them? Sorry, if this seems harsh, but it wasn't great at all.

Definitely the best pub in Forest Hill - but that's not hard considering the competition. Unfortunately, the service has gone down hill recently. Went there today at lunchtime and it took 15 minutes for the drinks order to be processed. It wasn't busy so I don't know why it took so long. We ordered our food (nothing fancy just basic stuff like burgers). Two people had to wait ages for theirs. We had all finished by the time theirs came (that's not the first time that's happened). Another two people joined us later on and also had to wait about 15 minutes for drinks. They ordered their food however one person ended up with nothing, so had to get his money back. No apology or anything. The Manager came over and said we should write the order down and drop it in prior to visiting or fax it over. What’s that all about, there were only 6 of us?!?!?! That said, when you eventually get your food it is nice.

this restaurant is the perfect place to relax with family and enjoy food. i find myself there all day long as the atmousphere is so delightfull. i recomend this restaurant to every one x

i love the food in this place, the environment is wonderfull and the staff are extremelt pleasent. i eat here every sunday with my partner and my little girl because it is such a wonderfull family restaurant. xxxx
