Introduction
Quayside has been run by the Fusco Family since 1999 and its award-winning proper Yorkshire fish and chips have made it the heart of Whitby’s harbour. Occupying one of Whitby’s most historic buildings – dating back to the 1820s – it originally served as a public bathhouse, museum and library. In the late 1890s, it’s said Bram Stoker carried out research for his gothic novel Dracula in the first floor library. In the early 1900s, it became shops and a photographic studio, and at the outbreak of war was used to feed the troops before they nipped upstairs to a dance club. Today, Fusco’s first floor cocktail bar, Bar 7, welcomes similar revelers!
As third generation chippies, we Fuscos know a thing, or three, about good fish and chips – after all it’s been our business for more than 50 years. Our family runs Quayside, Fish Box and the Royal Fisheries, which we took over in 1968. As a family, we’re dedicated to offering other families first-class food fried with passion, and served with pride.
