Applications
Optical Fiber Amplifier
A PbS quantum dot optical fiber amplifier with enhanced processability and environmental stability is proposed by Sun et al. In the fabrication of the quantum dot fiber amplifier, it was demonstrated by spectroscopy that modification of PbS quantum dots with multifunctional copolymers facilitates the dispersion of quantum dots in sol-gel without degrading or changing the optical properties. With the addition of the fluorine-containing component, the PbS quantum dot fiber amplifier maintained 96% of the initial gain after 100 days, compared with only 16% for the quantum dots modified with the fluorine-free polymer, and it can be affirmed that the fluorine bonding of the multifunctional copolymer has a good improvement on the durability of the PbS quantum dots.
