Many individuals suffering from SUD have been found to have underlying mental illnesses which drives an individual to self-medicate with substance use. In most cases the patient’s underlying mental illness goes undiagnosed and untreated and self-medication eventually becomes Substance Use Disorder. In some cases, a client’s SUD can exacerbate or give rise to other mental illnesses. At NorthStar Detox & Rehab Center start with a full evaluation of the patient’s mental health and diagnose and treat those clients who have an underlying mental illness as part of their treatment for SUD. NorthStar Detox & Rehab Center is one of a few facilities throughout the Country that is owned and operated by a licensed Medical Doctor. As a facility owned and operated by a physician, we must meet the standards of care and patient safety achieved by other licensed physicians in other medical fields.
