Why do children play?
Play is not merely about fun; deeper meanings lie behind playful activities.
Children learn best through their experiences with people they love and trust, building intuitive knowledge by watching and imitating. Hands-on interactive activities help them practice and refine their language, listening, social, and reasoning skills. Thought of play is an essential need of childhood, because it can reinforce the instincts that allow children to prepare skills for the future. Play allows children to practice, elaborate on, and perfect skills before they become necessary for survival in adulthood.
The business of play
The business of play seems to be complicated because we have to design the equipments to upgrade and update the child. When children play on playground equipment, we unconsciously expect certain things to happen. First, we expect children to have fun. We also expect children to gain in some measure of development, whether that is physical strength, balance, eye-hand coordination, or in some aspect of social or cognitive skill. We also expect children to remain safe.
Finally to meet all these expectations we design appropriate play options which meets the need and balances the use of large, fixed structures like Multiplay System which is a combination of Climbers, Swings and Slides by including open spaces, dramatic play manipulate. The business of play is – CARING ABOUT KIDS, once the kids are on playground, they get plenty of everything.
