The Lingaraj Temple is an old sanctum located in the megacity of Bhuwaneshwar and is the biggest sanctuary present in the megacity. Committed to Lord Shiva as the name proposes, the sanctuary was made at some point in the seventh century by King Jajati Keshari. The structure of the sanctuary is an inconceivable case of Orissa's style of engineering and has complicatedly planned gravestone vaults covering the principle sanctum of the sanctuary. The Lingraj Temple houses a Shivalingam that ascents to a height of 8 bases. A little sanctuary committed to Goddess Bhagawati sanctuary is positioned in the northwest corner of the yard too.
