Introduction
Mithila Kala Sansthan is a social organisation, which has come to provide strength to village arts known as "Mithila Painting".To further our cause of rural women empowerment, we have come up with skill development centre at underdeveloped region of Bihar which has noble objective of strengthening traditional Madhubani painting by making rural women adopting this art form as a supplementary livelihood source. Madhubani painting is a style of Ancient Painting, practised in the Mithila region of Nepal and in Indian States of Bihar. Painting is done with fingers, twigs, brushes, nib-pens, and matchsticks, using natural dyes and pigments, and is characterized by eye-catching geometrical patterns. There are paintings for each occasion and festival such as birth, marriage, Holi, Upanayanam, Durga Pooja etc.
The first reference to the Madhubani painting of Bihar dates back to the time of Ramayana, when King "Janaka" ordered the paintings to be created for his daughter, Sita's, wedding.
