Introduction
Green Passports, the unofficial name given to the Inventory of Hazardous Materials, have been developed to assist in the safe recycling of maritime vessels when they reach the end of their useful operating lifetime.The purpose of a Green Passport is to provide a list of all hazardous materials on board the vessel including the quantities of those materials. All new vessels will be provided with a Green Passport issued by the shipbuilder, however, the International Maritime Organization’s adopted stance is that all vessels are required to have a Green Passport.
