Meet Our Team (2)
Leo Westby
Guitar tutor
Leo is the guitar teacher and managing director of 'Lets Play Rock Ltd' and 'Newbury Rock School'.
I have been playing guitar for 30 years.
I teach all age groups. My current students range from 4 years old to 61. (younger and older are welcome:-), Beginners to advanced.
I have always found that those that really want to play, will play, and play well, no matter what the age.
I have been teaching for 21 years, and also have many years experience of band and stage performing.
I am also a member of the RGT Registry Of Guitar Tutors.
The way I teach is to make playing the guitar as much fun as possible, while progressing very quickly.
No music reading is required. I make my lessons as practical as possible to be able to PLAY the guitar as quickly as possible
I think its important to allow the students to play the songs/solos they want, mixed with techniques from me to keep them always moving forward.
I can also arrange bands and performances, so that live experience is gained through our rock school, which is held in the school holidays at studio91.
I have had a great deal of success over the years, with praise coming from the likes of Metallica, Dream Theater, Linkin Park, Zakk Wylde, Stratovarius, Nick Mason and press from around the world. That includes BBC 1, ITV, Channel 5, CBS, Sky News, Kerrang!, Metal Hammer, CBBC and many more.
