To provide a variety of wholesome & fresh food, made-to-order, at low prices and with speedy service. We continuously strive to explore new recipes and bring new items, many of which are inspired by international favorites, ensuring that you'll always have an endless variety of choices.
Family Roots
Lee's Deli began as a small sandwich shop in 1983 run by Lee and his wife, Claudia. However, Lee's commitment to serving his customers began at the age of 14. As a teenager, Lee worked in his dad's butcher shop on Fillmore Street, called Daily Meat Market, to provide quality meat at a low price. It was here that Lee learned the importance of serving fresh food in a timely manner and making sure that customers left happy.
More Locations, More Choices
In 1983, Lee's Deli was a simple deli selling down-to-earth sandwiches at a low price. Because one of the featured items was fresh roast turkey and roast beef, Lee arrived at work at 5am to open the store, brew the coffee, receive fresh pastries and deliveries, and slice the turkey and roast beef.
The family business grew as customers were drawn to the great food and value. Lee and Claudia added locations around San Francisco and expanded the menu by offering breakfast egg sandwiches, soups, a salad bar, wraps, burgers, sushi, wonton noodle soup, ramen, and a hot food and breakfast buffet.
Lee's Deli now operates out of 12 locations around the San Francisco financial district and Berkeley, and the foundation of fresh ingredients, value and service still make up the center of the operation. Lee likes to joke that Lee's Deli embodies his personality. It is a straightforward and down-to-earth deli offering low prices, a large selection, quick service, and convenience. Although in the 80's, Lee's could only cater to customers nearby, Lee's now operates delivery vans and caters office meetings, parties, and large events around San Francisco.
Though it has expanded from a small sandwich shop, Lee's Deli is still a family run business. Besides Lee and Claudia's family, the Lee's staff is comprised of multiple families (husband/wife, brother/sister, aunt/niece/nephew, father/daughter, etc). We hope to share our commitment to food and serving our customers from the Lee's Deli family to you!
