Kubo's Sushi Bar & Grill

Yoichi ( "Yogi" ) Ueno, owner, established Kubo's in 2001 out of his love for fine food and to introduce Houston to traditional, healthy Japanese cuisine.

While the restaurant's name pays homage to its first chef, Hajimi Kubokowa, Yogi now has teamed with one of the country's finest Japanese chefs, Executive Chef Kiyoka Ito, an extensively-trained professional in the fine art of creating traditional Japanese cuisine. Born in Japan, Chef Ito started his training in Kyoto where he went through the meticulous and intense training that advanced him to the upper ranks in the artistic culinary world of Japanese cooking, especially in the highly intricate skills of preparing Kaiseki. He is now bringing to Kubo's his sumptuous and creative Japanese cuisine prepared using traditional methods and ingredients.

Whether it is an appetizer of Spicy Tuna Mushroom or Kubo's Miso-Bouillabaisse as a soup starter, or a special entree such as Salmon Hooba-Yaki, Kubo's Garlic Beef or Chirashi, Kubo's is committed to serving only the freshest, most exceptional seafood, meats and vegetables, all prepared with unmatched innovation. His access to fresh, seasonal ingredients allows Chef Ito to demonstrate his artistry and versatility. Kubo's regulars also enjoy an array of sushi specials.

From its second-floor vantage point in the upbeat Rice Village Arcade, Kubo's offers an elegant- yet-unpretentious dining experience, perfectly suited for a casual lunch after shopping, an intimate dinner or a fun gathering spot for happy hour.

Allow Kubo's knowledgeable staff to plan a memorable occasion at Kubo's, or perhaps away from the restaurant with your own personal sushi chef. Kubo's authentic Japanese cuisine is an adventure in good living.
