The brand KitchenAid came into being when the idea of its flagship product - the iconic KitchenAid Stand Mixer - was formulated by Herbert Johnson, an engineer working at the Hobart Corporation. Inspired by seeing a baker mix dough, Herbert thought that there must be a better way of doing the task, and rest is history. The first machine to carry the KitchenAid name was introduced in 1918. Prototype models were given to the wives of factory executives, and the product was named when one stated "I don't care what you call it, but I know it's the best KitchenAid I've ever had!"

Since the introduction of the legendary Stand Mixer in 1919, KitchenAid has engineered an array of premium kitchen products promising superlative quality, durability, and precision. 96 years on, KitchenAid now offers virtually everything you need for a well-equipped kitchen, including high-performance countertop and built-in appliances, cookware, bakeware, and various other essential kitchen tools.

For more than 100 years, every KitchenAid product has been created with the same attention to detail, craftsmanship, technology and design, that is synonymous with the legacy of our brand. That also explains the reason why KitchenAid was selected as “the brand of choice” by the International Association of Culinary Professionals and American Culinary Federation*.
*Based on a 2014 survey, KitchenAid was found to be the home kitchen appliance brand chosen most often by the members of the International Association of Culinary Professionals.
