Over 1,000 years ago, people who lived in little towns in Italy baked all their own bread. They did not bake at home. All the people used one big oven. They had to wait a long time for the bread to bake. Sometimes they got hungry.
One day, a woman wanted something to eat while she waited for her bread to bake. She had an idea to take a bit of bread dough and make it round and flat. Then she put it in the oven. It baked very fast. The woman had something good to eat while she waited for her bread to bake. THIS WAS THE FIRST PIZZA.
Jerry's Pizza
When Jerry came to Downtown Bakersfield in 1992 he had only one plan in mind - to make the very best pizza from the finest ingredients possible and make it affordable. He started with a secret recipe for pizza sauce and old country traditions for pizza dough, and combined the two to create an extraordinary pizza taste. One secret that Jerry will reveal is that he uses only the freshest ingredients purchased exlusively from an authentic Italian supply company. Jerry then bakes his pizzas to perfection in a traditional stone hearth oven to bring out the true flavor of this miracle delight.
Additionally, Jerry has created something very unique to the pizza industry; a truly scrumptious white sauce. Originally introduced on his mouth watering chicken and white sauce pizza, it is now a natural on calzones or can be added to any of Jerry's delicious pizza choices.
Over time, Jerry expanded not only his building, but his menu as well, to accommodate an increased clientele. Customers can now enjoy hot & cold sandwiches, pastas, salads, hamburgers and calzones. On weekends and special occasions, Jerry's Pizza & Pub is known for featuring the best in live music in the very unique basement. At Jerry's, the atmosphere is friendly and comfortable. A nice place to enjoy your favorite imported & domestic beers, ales and wines.
