Introduction
Recognizing that there is a gap in the mental health system for residential mental health care, we designed and opened Jackson House in 2017 to serve adults who are in need of structured and supportive mental health treatment services in a home like environment. Jackson House provides structure and high-level services without being locked up in a traditional psychiatric hospital. Patients are free to use their phones and go on passes while in treatment. This eases the transition from the structure of treatment to the environment at home and creates more connection.
