Dr. Jake Poulter graduated from Ricks College and Idaho State University before attending medical school at the University of Utah. He continued his training by completing a vigorous Anesthesiology and Critical Care Residency at the University of New Mexico Hospital, where he was selected by the faculty as the Resident of the Year. During his training, Dr. Poulter developed a passion for helping patients with both acute and chronic pain conditions. In an effort to expand his ability to serve his patients, he returned to the University of Utah following his residency and completed a Pain Management Fellowship. Dr. Poulter has expertise in managing multiple types of painful conditions, and employs a multidisciplinary approach to each painful condition.He works closely with physical therapists, psychologists, neurologists, surgeons, and primary care physicians to create an individualized treatment plan for each patient. He employs a variety of interventional techniques to assist his patients with their pain, including injections, nerve ablations, and implantable therapies such as spinal cord stimulators and intrathecal pain pumps. Dr. Poulter has completed the highest level of training available for pain management physicians. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology in both Anesthesiology and Pain Management. He has been practicing pain management in Eastern Idaho since 2009 and joined Pain Specialists of Idaho in 2013.Dr. Poulter is originally from Menan. He graduated from Rigby High School and served a mission for his church in Norway. He and his family are happy to be back in Southeast Idaho. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his 5 busy children and spectacular wife. He is active in his community and is involved in a number of service positions.

Dr. Jason Poston is the Founder of Pain Specialists of Idaho and is an Anesthesiologist and Interventional Pain Physician who has dedicated his life to the eradication of pain. He is a native to Southeastern Idaho and graduated from both Rigby High School, and Ricks College. He then completed his Bachelor’s degree at Idaho State University in Zoology with high honors. He is a graduate of the University of Washington where he obtained his Medical Doctorate degree (MD). After medical school, he went to the University of Kentucky to complete his residency in Anesthesiology where he was chief resident and voted by faculty and his fellow residents as the outstanding graduate in his class. Lastly, he completed his training in Interventional Pain Medicine at the University of Utah.Dr. Poston has had the highest level of training available for a pain specialist and in addition to his expertise in interventional pain medicine, has had extensive training in medical management, physical medicine/physical therapy, cancer pain therapy, psychology and life style modification. He believes in a multidisiplinary approach to pain treatment.Dr. Poston is committed to service. He served a mission for his church in England and Wales and has served medical missions to the South American Amazon providing medical outreach to developing countries. He has spent countless hours volunteering with the Boy Scouts of America, coaching youth sport teams and serving in his church. Away from work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and five children, waterskiing, sports and spending time in the outdoors.
