Hotel de France

An Historic, 16th Century Coaching Inn/hotel and restaurant based in Montreuil sur mer Northern France. Features a cobbled courtyard and restaurant. Famous as the Coaching Inn on which the Coaching Inn in Les Miserables was based as Les Miserables was set in Montreuil sur Mer. Victor Hugo actually stayed at this Inn and got inspiration for Les Miserables. Other famous guests include Field Marshall Douglas Haig, Lawrence Sterne, Gerard Depardieu, Mel Smith, Midge Ure among others.
A ballroom which can seat up to 100 with a sprung floor regularly features music functions and a resident band, "A Day in The Life" a french beatles tribute band.
A funky reception is regularly the venue for late, late night hat and mask parties.

Dining under the indigo blue sky and stars in the courtyard in summer with nesting swallows and sparkling fairy lights. The restaurant, Le Relais du Roy , or Place of Kings was the original restaurant on the main Coaching Route beetween London and PAARIS A and was reportedly visited by Napoleon Bonaparte during his travels between the two capitals.
