Introduction
The Hoop & Grapes is an award winning traditional and historic English Inn situated in the heart London with the welcoming atmosphere of a friendly local.
The Hoop is notable for its amazing facilities, which include a free-to-hire function room, a beer garden and balcony which can be heated and covered in poor weather, and a games room with facilities for poker and darts.

THE HISTORY OF THE HOOP AND GRAPES
Circa 1720 (we think!) The Hoop and Grapes was first constructed as a Vintners House. Later becoming an Inn, it achieved notoriety as a location for illegitimate Fleet weddings. The Hoop & Grapes is built on part of the historic burial grounds of St Bride's Church.
The 90s!
The Hoop and Grapes undergoes several changes and eventually gets closed down and scheduled for demolition. However, as the last surviving pub where Fleet weddings were held, the pub is given a stay of execution and becomes a Grade II Listed Building.
The Hoop is saved for the nation!
Shepherd Neame
Shepherd Neame purchases the Hoop & Grapes and reopens it under its original name. During the renovation works the burial remains from St Bride's Church are discovered and the many bodies found there are moved into the British Museum.
These gruesome discoveries have undoubtedly led to the numerous stories of the Hoop & Grapes being haunted which continue to this day.
Present Day
November 2007 -Mike Stokes FBII arrives as landlord of the Hoop & Grapes.
His Mission, to restore its reputation as one of London's finest pubs and to provide a local that all people of Farringdon can enjoy and be proud of.
We quickly become a Book Crossing Zone!
December 2007 - The Hoop & Grapes opens a games room, making the Hoop a great place to play darts or poker!
March 2008 - The Hoop & Grapes becomes the first Shepherd Neame pub to gain the Cask Marque accreditation.
August 2008 - KDC Theatre Company makes The Hoop its home!
December 2008 - The Hoop & Grapes gains Master of Beer status.
Early 2009 - The Hoop joins the Pub and Bar Network.
March 2009 - The Hoop & Grapes gets a 5-star rating from the Scores on the Doors Food Hygiene Scheme.
April 2010 - We brew our very own beer, which goes on sale under the name 'Mendes Gold'
Summer 2010 - The Hoop & Grapes is commended in the City of London Safety Thirst Scheme.
Spring 2011 - The Hoop & Grapes makes the semi final of licensee of the year from BII
Summer 2011 - The Hoop & Grapes wins the 'Perfect Pint' award at the Shepherd Neame Awards! We serve the best pint possible!
