Hempstead Residential & Commercial Pressure Power Washer

Solar panels in New York can get quite dirty. There are many external influences that cause solar panels in New York to become dirty, including dust, dirt and pollutants in the atmosphere, bugs, spider webs and bird droppings to name a few.

It has generally been accepted that the rain would clean the panels but here in New York with a lot of days of sunshine on average we don’t see frequent rain, and when it does rain in New York the amount of dust in our atmosphere combined with the rain usually leaves dirt spots behind.

This conventional wisdom has come into question on how dust buildup has a significant effect on solar energy production. Having dust and grime buildup on your solar panels can reduce your system’s energy yields by up to 30% causing associated reductions in energy bill savings.

How often should solar panels be cleaned? At NY PW4C we recommend that solar panels in Brooklyn be cleaned at a minimum once every six months. Cleaning your solar panels at regularly prevents buildup of residue and keeps your solar panels operating optimally at all times.
