Meet Our Team (4)
John Hertenstein
MD, FAAP
Dr. Hertenstein received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Saint Louis University. He then completed a three-year residency in Pediatrics at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. Dr. Hertenstein is Board Certified in Pediatrics and a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Hertenstein founded Health Care for Children in 1981.
Melanie L. Lively
MD
Dr. Lively graduated from the six-year program at the University of Missouri at Kansas City with a combined Bachelor of Science in Biology and Medical Degree. She completed three years of pediatric training at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. Dr. Lively was then chosen to stay on at Children’s Mercy to serve as one of two Pediatric Chief Residents. It was during her time at Children’s Mercy that she met and married Dr. Paul Lively, who is also a member of the Health Care for Children team. Dr. Lively is a part time physician and a full time mom.
Paul H. Lively
DO, FAAP
Dr. Lively is a graduate of The University of California at Santa Barbara, Denver Theological Seminary and The University of Health Sciences. In 1998 he completed his three years of specialty training in pediatrics at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. Board Certified in Pediatrics, Dr. Lively has a special interest in asthma, allergy, adolescent medicine, dermatology and infectious diseases. He continues as an Adjunct Professor of Clinical Pediatrics with the University of Health Sciences. Paul, Melanie and their children reside in Liberty, Missouri.
Theresa “Tessa†Rinker
MD, FAAP
Dr. Rinker graduated from Liberty High School. She received her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia, followed by three years of training in pediatrics at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. A Board Certified Pediatrician, Dr. Rinker has a special interest in patient and parent education, infectious diseases and developmental issues. Dr. Rinker and her family are happy to be part of the Liberty community.
