Introduction
ERNAD DIGITAL SINE WAVE ONLINE U P S SYSTEMS
We started developing both systems to meet the requirements of our customers, since the computer revolution hits the Indian subcontinent. U P S Systems are generally of 2 main categories- offline & online.
1. Offline U P S Systems work on mains supply when mains supply is available and in the event of mains failure only it inverts to battery [inverter] mode. As the switching [change over] is very fast say, within 4 milliseconds, the computer will not feel the interruption. The capacity of these types of U P S is restricted to the RELAY rated current capacity. Therefore units having capacities over 2KVA are NOT MANUFACTURED by any body else now. ERNAD has, however, developed its own techniques to overcome these limitations and have developed offline U P S having capacities up to 5KVA. As power consumption of these types of U P S systems are as low as 50% when compared to that of ONLINE systems many commercial users like Computer Institutes, Internet Café, Schools & Colleges etc., prefer these systems over online U P S systems.
However as there is a time gap between mains & inverter mode operations & frequent power line variations may cause contact “bouncingâ€, costly & valuable programme are not safer with these types of U.P.S. systems. For these reasons professional grade ONLINE U.P.S are used in areas of importance.
2. On the other hand, Online U.P.S. systems are always working on inverter mode thus making continuous supply to computers and other loads. There is no interruption at all to the supply of power to computer loads. While mains supply is available, AC is converted to required DC voltage and fed to the inverter system through filtering devices. Batteries are connected in parallel to this DC voltage.
In the event of mains failure the batteries will take over the task of supply of power to the computers without interruption. As there is no change over relay mechanisms involved, the capacity of the systems are not restricted, as the case with the offline U.P.S. Again, the Online U.P.S.Systems can be sub-divided into Square Wave & Sine Wave depending on the output wave forms. The sine wave type is costlier when compared to square wave and definitely is a superior professional quality power source.
ERNAD manufactures all these three types of U.P.S.Systems.
1) An AC to DC power converter (Rectifier) with proper filtering circuits
2) A bank of tall tubular batteries.
3. A DC to AC power high frequency sine wave inverter

Charging the batteries from the mains- Mains 230V AC is converted to required DC voltages & Charges the battery after due filtering circuits & converted /Inverted to 230V 50Hz AC. There are no relays or circuit breakers of any kin d to have any interruption. The batteries are in direct contact with the Sine wave inverter during its entire working- There is absolutely no interruption at all.
